Black Bear of Alaska
Black Bear of Alaska on Skilak Road outside of Soldotna. Many black bears were present in this area and warrants hikers to take precaution when hiking on the trails in Alaska for bear safety preparedness. This gorgeous black bear was munching on roadside berries and getting ready for winter hibernation.
Tuffed Puffin of Alaska
Excited to see our first puffins here in Homer, Alaska. Most of the puffins had already left the Homer area although there were still a few to be found around Gull Island.

Atlin Bald Eagle Coming In For Prey
Atlin Bald Eagle Coming In For Prey
Atlin, British Columbia
Bald Eagle searching for prey at the old Valdez town site. Clearly undeterred by my presence. Was shooting with a 500mm prime and couldn't back up any further on the shore line to catch a full wing span in flight. An amazing eagle with focused attention and not easily distracted by a mere human!
This curious Alaska Marmot was out at the Valdez Ferry site happily munching away on a field of flowers. Initially was afraid but quickly became curious about me and came in very close to pose for a few photos for my camera! My morning gift!
Sea Lion Secrets
These two sea lions definitely had tales to tell! They stayed close together as the group of sea lions were fishing for salmon in the evening sun. They were a delight to watch and learn about sea lion interactions, behaviors and hunting tactics. Amazing marine wildlife!
Sea Lion Salmon Snack
Amazing to watch the sea lions feeding on the salmon in the Valdez Harbor. They come in with the tides. The bulls come last after the others have come to coral the fish. The females will usually take only the heads of the fish whereas the males tend to swallow the salmon whole! Gulls are close at hand to snatch any scraps. Amazing wildlife!
The Grace of a Gull
he grace of a gull on display in Alaska along the shores of the Valdez harbor. There they compete with other gulls for the salmon remains from hunting sea lions. Still amidst the battles, their beauty shines through.
Hand Fishing for Salmon
A couple of young folks trying out hand fishing for pink salmon. Lots of fun, patience and persistence and their efforts started to pay off! Move over bears and sea lions! Catch and release only noted.

Raising Baby Birds
Western Kingbirds of Palouse Falls Campground in Washington. Very hard working Western Kingbird parents diligently caring for their babies. Tirelessly feeding and watching over them throughout the day. As the sun set and shown strongly into the nest, the parents would fan their wings to shield the babies from the suns rays.
Spunky little Savannah Sparrow delighting in tasty morsels aling the shoreline of the Atlin slough in British Columbia, Canada.
The other marmots had sounded the alarm and scurried away. All but this one curious marmot who was just as interested as watching me as I was of watching him. The marmots have created a home nestled in the rock crevices atop the hills of Steptoe Butte State Park in Washington.
